Donations for Ryan Carroll's living costs during chemotherapy treatment for cancer.
Auckland
As most close friends and family know, the last few weeks have been a whirlwind of emotions and a very trying time for Ryan and Lauren, as last week Ryan was diagnosed with testicular cancer and received the news that it had partially spread up towards his kidney.
The daunting process of chemotherapy will start for him Monday 13th July and will be 9 hard weeks of care. Ryan has been advised he will be absolutely exhausted and run down during this process, both physically and mentally. Not only will the struggle on his body be vicious but they are also expecting many other many side effects as a result of the chemotherapy, rendering him unable to work. Because some of the impacts of chemo are permanent, it will be a case of waiting to see when and if Ryan can return to doing what he loves.
As it turns out there is no government funding available for him to help cover costs and day to day living. Lauren is also having to cut down hours at work to help care for him so their income will be down drastically.
So, this Givealittle is to try help cover costs needed to get Ryan and Lauren through the next few months. Ry hates asking for help and as most of you know is a loving, gracious human who always wants to do things on his own, however now in life they need some help and so will be beyond grateful for any donations / care at this time.
Feel free to reach out and offer support, but understand that Ryan may not have capacity to respond to everyone at this time.
We are Ryan's friends and biggest fans. From high school band concerts, drinking games, impromptu wrestling matches, milo milkshake surprises and Thai appreciation nights, we are here for Ry 100% of the way.
Money will be spent paying for Ryan's rental and utility costs, costs to run his business and get groceries over the expected 9 weeks of chemotherapy treatment.
