Sarah needs a new bike and gear to help her realise her dream to become a paralympic cyclist.
Auckland
2 years ago Sarah broke her back and was told she had a 1% chance of ever walking again. She has defied all the odds and has made the Paralympic cycling team. In order to do her best she needs a new bike and gear.
A note from Sarah:
1. My goal is Toyko 2020 to represent NZ in cycling
2. I am doing Road and Track cycling so having to find the funds for 2 new bikes
3. The money raised will help cover bike costs and travel costs to Cambridge where I train
4. I am one of three Para athletes selected for Road World Champs this August in South Africa
From the Paralympic website.
Para cyclist Sarah Ellington (Auckland) has only been involved with the sport for six months and will make her international debut in South Africa. She was inspired by the performances of the New Zealand Paralympians in Rio 2016 and attended a ACC Paralympics New Zealand Open Day in October. She registered her interest in Para cycling and then attended her first Talent Identification Camp in January this year. In an incredibly short period of time she has proved she is ‘one to watch’ for the future with considerable potential. She recently competed in the National Road Championships producing results that would see her providing strong competition to the top 10 Para cyclists in the world.
I am involved because Sarah is my niece and I admire her strength and determination to get where she is today. She has been a real inspiration to a lot of people.
Buy a new bike and gear for Sarah to help her pursue her dream.
