Save a Wild Kaimanawa from the 2025 Muster

$14,660 donated
Given by 104 generous donors in 5 weeks

This year the Kaimanawa herd will be reduced to 400 by aerial mustering and culling. KLF is committed to saving excess horses.

Nationwide

With 148 horses at risk of being culled during the late April muster, Kaimanawa Legacy Foundation are looking for donations to provide potential owners with subsidies to help with the costs of saving excess horses.

For every $1000 raised an extra horse can be saved, with the money providing subsidies for KHH/KLF approved homes that need financial support to enlist the help of a KLF Approved Trainer for the initial handling period.

For many, these costs can be difficult to budget for, especially right now when the cost of living is so high. While the KLF subsidies won't cover all of the costs associated with saving a Kaimanawa, they will allow quality owners the opportunity to save a horse from the muster, when they might not otherwise be able to afford to this year.

In 2024, KLF were able to allocate 39 Initial Handling Subsidies, helping save the lives of 39 horses. 20 of these were raised through our Givealittle campaign and we truely appreciate every donation made.
