Saving a Special Dog

Nobile is a very sick, but very special dog who desperately needs help in Sicily.

So far I have paid for his vet tests, the cost of relocating him, special renal food and his board for a month but he needs so much more and, without assistance, he doesn’t stand a chance. Can you help us?

When I spotted him at a distance, I knew immediately this dog was special. I've known and seen a lot of street dogs, stray dogs, feral dogs and I leave them be, but not this boy. For some reason he needed my attention. He was emaciated, had ticks on him, a mangy tucked tail and who knows what else.

I gave him the name Nobile, which in Italian means gentle, noble and great.

Following months of hard work and liaising with many groups, he suddenly appeared in a city pound and online. Photos and videos were so disturbing to us - Gabriella from Animalsicilia and I - that we knew we had to get him out of where he was.

So, last week, we managed to get Nobile to a good vet and into foster with a very experienced vet nurse. We have done a full medical, for which the bill is expensive and the results are not good.

He has tick disease and leishmaniasis (a very bad disease spread by sandflies). With medical care Nobile can overcome all this; without it he will die.

It is going to cost thousands, but Nobile deserves the chance to live. I cannot afford his medical care on my own so I’m asking for your help.
