Sean’s Walk for Eczema Awareness
A South Island Coast to Coast Walk from Serpentine Beach, (Kumara Beach) to Woodend Beach -
234 kms
This Walk is supported by The Kaiapoi Walkers Group and the Eczema Association of New Zealand.
Sean’s grandson, Ben, suffered from severe eczema as a baby. From three months of age to fifteen months, red raw rashes covered his face and body. Ben’s skin is now mostly clear but the eczema is still in his system and will likely have to be managed into adulthood.
For twelve months, his two excellent parents cared for him, effectively twenty four hours a day. They made regular visits to their GP and various skin specialists. They suffered alongside Ben, through day and night, tirelessly endeavoured to ease his discomfort.
Many parents or carers, young children and adults, will have their own stories of the onset of their eczema symptoms.
Between November 1st and November 10th Steph McLaughlan and Sean Regan will complete a charity walk on Highway 73 across the South Island, to raise funds for eczema awareness.
All donations will be given to the Eczema Association of New Zealand, EANZ for the excellent work they do offering advice and support.
Their website is: http://www.eczema.org.nz/
Note: (Receipts will show that donations for this cause are not tax deductible.)

My grandson had severe eczema as a baby and I wanted to do something through EANZ to help other sufferers, carers or parents. It is a terrible condition to have but it is never mentioned in public media or sponsorship campaigns.
The use of the funds will the prerogative of the Eczema Association but it will have an emphasis on publicity and providing information on the medical condition of eczema
