180km of faultline rupture = heartache & despair. 180km of 20c coins = rebuilding our communities ECE services. Shake Your Change for Good
Marlborough
Here we are, 2 years after the earth shook. The 2016 Kaikoura Earthquake rocked our communities.
The South Marlborough communities of Seddon, Ward, Kekerengu and Clarence have shared, rebuilt, laughed and cried.
Our lives changes.
Our community united.
Our journey to recover stability has been worthwhile and rewarding.
The schools in Seddon and Ward are the heart of the community. They are well through the process of rebuilding, so over the last year our focus has turned towards our youngest. Their services have been reduced with buildings destroyed and others damaged. But we are hanging in there.
Our Playcentre, Plunket and Awatere Early Learning Centre were all damaged in the 2016 quake. A new purpose built hub will house all of these community organisations and more. We want to use this opportunity of rebuilding and repairing our buildings to ensure that we are able to meet the needs of our community into the future.
The Awatere Early Chldhood Education Hub (ECE Hub) will provide a home for health, education, care and whanau support from different services - all within one modern and resilient building.
Our communities have fund-raised over the years to establish these once great buildings and amazing services. But our community has been broken. While local families and businesses are still very much in a rebuild phase from the 2013 and 2016 earthquakes we need your help.
So we are asking for your help. Your small change will return the services we need to the South Marlborough region.
The fault lines that ruptured on 14th November 2016 cover a distance of 180km. It would take less than two 20c coins from each person in New Zealand to cover that distance and build our ECE Hub.

Please give us your small change, and help us to look after our youngest.
Shake that change for good!!
Thanks for helping to lift our community and help us achieve our goal.
The Awatere Valley Trust was formed last year when we wanted to raise our communities morale and involve them in activities and decision making. We work with and assist other community organisations. We feel, together everyone achieves more.
Funds will be spent on building a 555sqm building with decks. Any remaining funds will be used to complete the landscaping and playground.
