Shaving for Jumari

My name is Naveen. I am fundraising money for a close family friend, Jumari Abdul Rahman (Jay) who was diagnosed with bladder cancer in July 2018.

Jumari had his first surgery on August 6th at Auckland Hospital. This was followed by a major surgery on October 11th during which his bladder and prostate were removed completely and replaced by a neo-bladder. This new bladder was reconstructed using a section of his intestines. On November 2nd he was rushed to emergency due to severe stomach pain and found he has multiple complications such as infection and kidney stones in his new bladder. He is due to have a third surgery in the coming weeks.

Jumari lives alone in New Zealand but is fortunate to have many good friends who have been supporting him through this process. Together we're all seeking donations to bring his family from Malaysia to New Zealand.

On my family's behalf, I'll be shaving my hair to raise funds for Jay. This money will go towards travel and accommodation costs for his sister, wife and 7 year old daughter. We know Jay as a happy, outgoing and active man but to see him struggle mentally and physically has been difficult. He is longing to see his family especially his daughter. It would be great to have his family by his side especially for his upcoming surgery to help with recovery and to provide moral support.

I'll be shaving my hair on Saturday the 24th of November (10am NZT) at a friend's place. The whole thing will be live-streamed on my Facebook and Instagram pages.
