It is a time to give back to a football man who has given so much, asked for very little and now needs our help.

Auckland

Sid packed up his bags leaving behind his beloved Everton, family and friends in the early 1980's to set up home in NZ.

A proud man who would not ask for any help set about applying his trade as a painter, plasterer and tiler to make a life for himself here in Aotearoa. He is a man who has always contributed to the community and through his passion of football coached a vast array of people at varying levels and abilities. The dedication that Sid has displayed over the decades to Football in New Zealand on a purely voluntary basis is a source of inspiration to all who have connected with the man.

Often, he would go over and beyond his coaching duties to ensure that the welfare of people he had dealings with was looked after such is his generosity. Assisting young men to get on their feet with direction and guidance when others had not spent time to assist the younger generations transition from childhood to adulthood. He became not only a great coach but is cherished for his friendship, loyalty, community spirit and general desire to help where there seemed to be nowhere to turn. This could sometimes come at considerable personal financial cost such is his desire to do right.

Sid is now entering a phase of his life where we need to give back to him. Recently he was given news that he would not be able to work given the type of cancer he has been diagnosed with. With the prospect of increased health care bills and the inability for Sid to work the coming months will be difficult. He came over to New Zealand with no family and no friends I would like to think that the Football community has become both his family and friends so would ask that we all work together to ensure the fundamentals of life ( Rent, Power, Water, Food ) can be met for Sid by donating to this give a little page.

Peyo's Cup 2019 Incorporated's involvement (page creator)

Sid has assisted in many young lives through coaching Football in New Zealand both at junior and senior level. I have greatly appreciated the way he would go over and above to ensure the welfare of his players, often personally taking on the mantle to assist others in challenges they were facing. He now is facing challenges both in health and financially, so it is time for us to give back to him as a cherished member of the football and wider Auckland community.

Use of funds

The funds raised will assist in providing the fundamentals of life for Sid, i.e his food, rent, power, water and also help fund the on going medical bills. Should there be surplus funds they will be donated to a charity Sid has supported.
