Sloan family’s brain tumour journey
Andrew has a tumour which occupies a large section of his brain. All money raised will support Andrew, his wife and three boys.

Andrew Sloan, an avid sportsman, fell off his bike in November last year. During his recovery, a Wanaka specialist organised a MRI scan for him. This scan, in February, uncovered something Andrew and his wife Cherie hadn’t expected - an aggressive cancerous brain tumour. This tumour occupies a large section of Andrew’s brain and the journey ahead for their family looks unclear. There will be surgeries and follow through chemotherapy and radiation. Andrew is a Year 8 teacher at Mount Aspiring College in Wanaka, and he, wife Cherie and their three ‘monkeys’ Oscar, Charlie and Harry have had to move back to Dunedin indefinitely. Any funds raised will support them whilst they live their uncertain journey.

Every day living costs. Being away from home, as well as still having to pay a mortgage and rates can be financially ruining.

Results from Andrew’s brain surgery 29 March 2018

Andrew has now been diagnosed with an aggressive brain cancer. Soon he will begin six weeks of radiation and chemotherapy. Once this is complete, he will wait three months until he has another scan. The path ahead will be determined based upon the results from this.
Andrew and Cherie wish to express their thanks and gratitude for everyone’s generosity and support. They are both ready for the fight ahead.
