Snowden's Bush Trust wishes to purchase land fronting the Snowden's Bush Reserve. It will be gifted to DOC and added to the scenic reserve.
Nelson / Tasman
The Snowden's Bush Trust has been set up with the goal of raising funds to purchase a 3500m2 piece of land fronting the current Snowden's Bush Reserve that is currently owned by the local Anglican Diocese. If the Trust is not successful raising the necessary funds the likely alternative is the land will be sold to a housing developer.
The Trust wishes to purchase the land and gift it to the Department of Conservation to be added to the existing Snowden's Bush Reserve. If funding allows the Trust also wishes to make improvements to the Reserve including improving the biodiversity of the reserve and improving public amenity.
As the last remnant of podocarp forest on the Waimea Plains the Reserve is important from both a biodiversity and historical standpoint.
Snowden’s Bush Trust is a registered charitable trust that was formally incorporated on 25 March 2019. Our trustees are current or former residents of Brightwater with a passion for Snowden’s Bush Scenic Reserve and the Brightwater community.
We are raising funds to purchase 3,500m² of land on Waimea West Road from the Nelson Diocesan Trust. Once purchased, the land will be gifted and formally integrated into Snowden’s Bush Scenic Reserve to ensure its environmental and heritage conservation, and recreational enjoyment, for future generations.
Purchase of 3500m2 of land to be added to the existing Snowden's Bush Reserve. Any surplus funds over the purchase price will be used to restore and improve the Reserve
