Please help with financial costs of Tamaki's funeral. Surplus funds will be donated to "Springboard" for the support of vulnerable youth.
Auckland
Peter and Rita have been foster parents for decades. Tamaki came to them at one year old with foetal alcohol syndrome and they continued to care for him until two days ago. He was 24 years old and died in a Mental Health Unit. Tamaki was not able to live on his own due to his disabilities. Listening to Rita talking to him daily, revealed to me how much she loved him. He was just "one of her kids". No differentiation is ever made between her foster children and her biological ones.
Peter and Rita had big plans for Tamaki, to enable him to live as normally as possible in the community supported by caregivers. Plans were in motion and coming to fruition when Tamaki's life ended.
Death of your child is painful. Peter and Rita are struggling with what happened to Tamaki while he was in care, and would appreciate support with the costs involved with Tamaki's farewell. "Springboard" (for the support of vulnerable youth and families), will benefit from any surplus funds.
I work with Rita who has become a good friend. I want to help raise money to assist with the funeral of their son who has died in a Mental Health Unit, and any surplus funds will go to Springboard Mahurangi who works with vulnerable youth and their families. We need to be more aware of the challenges our young people face today.
Giving Rita and Peter help with costs of Tamaki's funeral. Surplus will go to the Springboard community in Mahurangi (Snells Beach) for the support of vulnerable youth and their families.
