PĀTAUA MĀHANGA-RĀTIMA (10 years old)

Pātaua is known creatively as 'Sonson the Artist'. He is the youngest child in the family and lovingly referred to as 'Sonson' by all of us.

Sonson has a burning obsession to become one of the greatest artists of his time. He is currently studying Jean Michel Basquiat and makes reference to his work in all that he creates. He has a short-term goal to travel to Melbourne at the end of 2019 to see the Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring Exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria. https://www.ngv.vic.gov.au/exhibition/keith-haring-jean-michel-basquiat/.

Another goal is to have a solo exhibition in Auckland in 2020, where he'll work to raise funds for his long-term goal of traveling to New York City where he'll visit exhibitions and trace Basquiat's steps within the art world.

Sonson is featured as the in-house artist for our streetwear fashion label www.outherecollaborating.com. We will be collaborating with Sonson regularly in creating fresh collections throughout the years to come. In support of his practice, OUT HERE COLLABORATING gives 30% of all profit made from the sale of his collections to enable the purchase of materials to make work, plan exhibition visits and travel expenses. We have gone further in creating this GIVE-A-LITTLE page to help support this very young and extremely talented artist achieve his dreams.

My name is Misty Rātima and I am Pātaua's mum. I am a fashion designer also the creative director and owner of clothing labels 'TE KOHU' and 'OUT HERE COLLABORATING'.
