Historic Church, St Patricks of Ross, requires funding assistance to restore and preserve a treasured piece of golden history.

St Patricks Church is located in the Historic Gold mining township of Ross on the South Islands West Coast. The Historic (Category 2) Church is 154yrs old, and is in much need of some exterior maintenance. A number of weatherboards and window and door surrounds need replacing, and the entire exterior requires an overall paint, to enable preservation of this historic gem from the days of old.
Mass is held twice a month, as well as occasional baptisms, weddings and funerals.
The Church sits amongst the Heritage Precinct of Ross and with . The Church is opened daily by the Ross Goldfields Information & Heritage Centre, giving visitors the opportunity to not only step back in time, but also read the Information Panel regarding the history of the Church, the first resident priest (French) and the early mining settlers to Ross, who constructed the building.
A large number of the Irish participated in construction, a couple of them being descendant's of St Jean Martin Moye, a missionary of France, from the 1700's, beatified in 1954. Moye descendants still live in Ross today.
Donations made towards this restoration project, will help ensure the continuation of this beautiful historic building, for everyone to enjoy.
Purpose of our Charity is to be beneficial to the Westland Community & Environments, this includes social, cultural, heritage and natural environs.
Funds are to be used for scaffolding, timber and associated materials, paint and contractors. Any surplus money would stay in the Church Restoration funds for future maintenance needs on the Historic building
