Help us support Junior, his wife Kerri, and their three children.

Queenstown, Otago

Most of you will know Junior. From the sidelines at Wakatipu Rugby Club, from building sites around town, or simply as the person who lights up every room. He gives more than he takes, and now it is our turn to give back.

This week Junior and his family received news no family is ready for. He has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Junior and his wife Kerri have three beautiful children aged 8, 14, and 16, and right now the most important thing is for them to be together.

We want Kerri to be by Junior's side through every appointment and every hard moment, without worrying about the bills. Medical costs, time off work, and everyday family expenses do not pause when life gets hard.

We are still awaiting the oncologist appointment and will share more when the family is ready. We wanted to get a head start, because that is what community does.

We are also holding a fundraising auction evening on Friday 5 June in Queenstown. Venue to be confirmed, watch this page for updates.

Ask anyone in Queenstown about Junior and they will not just know his name, they will light up when they say it. We just want to make sure he feels every bit of that love right now.

With love and aroha

A little update from the family  19 May 2026

We want to start by saying thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, to every single person who has shown up for Junior and for our family. The truck procession was something truly special, and it said everything about the kind of man Junior is. The love and respect in that turnout moved us beyond words.

Things are moving quickly at the moment. Junior is heading down to Dunedin for a scan ahead of beginning radiation treatment, and he has a chemotherapy session coming up on Thursday. While we have been open about the fact that Junior's illness is not curable, we are holding onto hope that the chemotherapy may help to extend his time with us. It is a hard road, but Junior is facing it with the same strength and spirit that everyone who knows him would expect.

The support coming in has been incredible. The fundraiser is going beautifully, with donations, vouchers, and contributions continuing to flow in, and we are overwhelmed by the generosity of this community. Tickets for the event on the 5th are almost completely sold out, which is a true testament to how many people want to come together to raise funds for Junior and his family.

We will keep sharing updates as we can. Please know that every message, every gesture, and every act of kindness is felt deeply by Junior and by all of us walking this journey alongside him.

With so much love and gratitude,

The Family

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
