14% heart function, COVID19 and a stroke. Let's take some pressure off Steve, to give him one less thing to worry about!
Nationwide
Over the past year, as a result of some serious health events, Steve's life has dramatically changed. However, Steve is a fighter. Although he has tried to continue as normal, it has become more and more difficult, with a debilitating heart condition, contracting COVID19 and more recently a crippling stroke.
October 2019 - Steve was hit with a heart virus that took his heart function down to only 14%. He spent many months in and out of hospital and trialled multiple drugs. Unfortunately, because of this illness, and the damage it's done to his heart, he now requires a heart transplant.
March 2020 - Steve was admitted to Waikato hospital with his heart condition. Unfortunately he also tested positive for COVID19, as part of the Matamata cluster. With his heart only working at 14%, this knocked him even harder. At one point Steve was so ill, that his parents were told to prepare for the worst. being hit so hard by this debilitating virus was devastating for Steve, as it meant he was unable to carry on working in the capacity he would have liked.
October 2020 - Steve suffered a stroke which left him paralysed down his left side. Back in Waikato hospital, he started the long road of rehabilitation. On admission to hospital, it was suggested that Comfort Care was an option.
November 2020 - Steve suffered a second smaller stroke, while still in hospital and receiving rehab.
January 2021 - after 11 weeks in hospital, Steve has made some progress with rehab and moved to a Hospital Care Rest Home in Cambridge
Long term, Stephen will require suitable accommodation modifications and assistance that can facilitate intensive rehabilitation.
Steve needs your help, to make the road to recovery that little bit easier. Any contribution would be gratefully appreciated.
Have you got Steve's back? Give a little, please!
I am a very close friend of Steve's and have worked beside him for 10 years. It's been heartbreaking seeing my mate so sick this past year and I want the best for him as his fights his latest battles.
Assistance with rehabilitation and accommodation
Any surplus funds will be donated to Stroke Foundation.
Yet another hiccup - a broken femur! 6 February 2021
Steve had surgery today for a broken femur after a fall. He's currently in recovery and will be taken to HDU to be monitored as blood pressure low.
Very scary time as Steve is still fighting the serious heart condition and trying so hard to rehabilate after strokes.
Thanks for all your support ❤️
Keep up the good fight my friend 💪🥊
