I am stepping out to walk 15,000+ steps a day to raise money for my friend’s mum who is currently fighting incurable stage 4 breast cancer.

This STEPtember I am stepping out to raise money for my amazing friend’s mum who is currently fighting incurable stage 4 breast cancer.
In 2010, Shirley was diagnosed with breast cancer. After six years of fighting through many treatments, infections and surgeries, Shirley and her family were told she was in remission. Unfortunately, less than a year later they got the upsetting news that her breast cancer had returned, and in 2017 she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Secondary Breast Cancer, for which there is no cure.
Unfortunately, they have run out of options with treatment that are funded by the NZ Government and their next step is an unfunded treatment that can improve her quality of life, and extend her life expectancy, giving them more time to spend together as a family. This family are the most loving, caring people I know who go out of their way to help those around them on a daily basis. I want them to be able to access the treatment they need, and to do that we need to raise funds. IBRANCE and FASLODEX will cost $6889 per month, for 11 months of treatment and they need to fund this themselves.
So, this STEPtember I’m bumping up my steps! My current daily average is 10,000 steps... so I am going to aim to walk 15,000+ steps every day in September, in order to raise money towards her treatment. Throughout this month I am also going to find some great peaks to climb (I’m not a fan of uphill!) or some great walks to tackle to add to this challenge.
All money raised is going directly to a bank account set up for Shirley’s treatment costs. So please sponsor me and help support this amazing family in looking after the lady who has raised them to be 2 of the most awesome people I know.
I would love for you to sponsor me as I madly step my way through the next month - so click the donate button and help make this happen!

Day 6 Replay Day - 23,536 Steps! 1 October 2019
Today’s steps replace steps on Friday 6th September, when I was sick and failed to make 15,000+ steps. Being the final day I wanted to clock over 22,000 steps, so I’m stoked with the final effort!
HUGE thanks to everyone who has supported me in supporting this amazing whānau. 💜🙌🏻⭐️
