Our kitten was tortured and had his two back legs bound tightly together with duct tape. Help us pay for his care and stop animal cruelty.
Southland
On Friday the 11th Jan our kitten didn’t come home. We spent the next few days going mad, searching and wondering if he ever would. On Monday afternoon, standing in the backyard aimlessly scanning, it suddenly went eerily quiet and I let out a loud call. The little meow that echoed my call was too much of a coincidence to not be Junior. We went to the property we thought we could hear him and sure enough he was right there.
At first I didn’t understand why he hadn’t been home it wasn’t until I approached and he ran away in terror I got close enough to see the duct tape bound tightly around his legs.
We spent the rest of the night trying to coax Junior with food but he was terrified and kept scrambling over fence after fence in terror. Restless and not wanting to stress Junior out anymore and having lost him in some bushes we retired till the next day. It wasn't until Tuesday afternoon we found Junior hiding underneath a bush. Still trying to evade us he scrambled over another fence right into a yard with aggressive Alsatians. They had him cornered and pinned down, I’ll never forget him helpless and exhausted, but luckily Kevin went in yelling immediately jumped on Junior covering him in a blanket and then scooping him up. The dogs just backed off and fell silent.
I was so relieved that we had managed to get him. His wounds were horrific and he smelt like dead animal. His paws were severely swollen and had ballooned to twice the size. To think how long he had been like this broke my heart.
We immediately took Junior to the vet where he was treated for his wounds. Because of the severe swelling there was a real fear for endotoxin shock. He spent 3 nights at the vet hospital and has just been able to return to us on Friday night after a whole week of being away from home. The idea of someone being capable of doing this is very disturbing and I hope the person responsible never gets to do something like this ever again.
This horrific incident is a horrible ordeal for our little kitty to have to endure and any help towards paying for his care would be greatly appreciated. Any excess funds will go to the SPCA and Furever Homes for all the great work they do and to help spread the message of preventing Animal cruelty.
The money will be spent on paying Juniors vet bill and any ongoing care costs. Any excess funds raised will be donated to the SPCA and Furever Homes.
