Supporting Jarom's recovery and helping his family manage the unexpected costs of a serious accident in Bali.

Lower Hutt, Wellington

On Monday 1st of June, Jarom was seriously injured in a scooter accident while on holiday with his family in Bali.

He has suffered a severe brain bleed and major injuries to his hip and femur. Jarom needed to have lifesaving surgery and is currently on life support. It is a long uncertain journey ahead with the extent of his brain injury still unknown.

Now, Jarom's parents are facing unexpected medical bills, and travel expenses. So far, the medical expenses alone have totalled $110,000 and are rising each day.

Jarom does have a travel insurance policy the claim process is underway but is unknown what might be covered at this stage

This page has been created on the family's behalf to help ease the financial pressure during this incredibly difficult time, so the family can focus on what matters most, being there for Jarom.

Any support, big or small, would mean the world to the family. If you're not able to donate even just sharing this page would really help.

An Update from the Guillonta whānau  13 June 2026

Late this week, we finally brought Jarom home to New Zealand by air ambulance. He is currently in an induced coma in the Intensive Care Unit. While he is also battling pneumonia, which adds another complex layer to his treatment, our focus is entirely on his recovery and rehabilitation. We won't know the full extent of his injuries until he is able to respond, the road ahead remains long, challenging, and uncertain.

Our whānau are taking things one day at a time.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. We truly could not have made it this far without the incredible outpouring of love, support, and kindness you have all shown us.

Arohanui Rafael, Maree, Tash, Nicole & Ben

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
