Help Mel with her rising medical expenses to beat IC!

Due to years of misdiagnosed chronic endometriosis I have now in addition been diagnosed with interstitial cystitis. This has been a huge nearly 2 year battle which I’m still battling.

Interstitial Cystitis is a chronic bladder inflammatory condition which causes the protective lining of my bladder to deteriorate, no longer protecting the bladder from toxins and acid found naturally in urine. Without treatment this will only get worse, with each unavoidable flare causing more decline in bladder health and function and more irreparable damage.

The current damage to my bladder already results in debilitating pain, urinary retention, physical constraints, resulting in massive amounts of fatigue and lethargy, dangerously low blood pressure, and lengthy hospital stays for pain relief and treatment. As a result I have had to give up all of my much loved physical outdoor hobbies, my weight has plummeted down 40kgs, I need to take large amounts of sick leave away from my career as an Ambulance Officer, with mounting bills, huge medical expenses, out of town travel expenses for treatments and surgeries.

The good news is that there is light at the end of the tunnel to get my life back on track.

The bad news is that the medication I need and have been prescribed, iAluril, is unfunded and very expensive! ***$375 per treatment, once a week, every week!***

But it works!!!

So far it has been the only thing getting me out of bed, out of hospital, upright, eating again and most importantly back to work with my pain somewhat manageable and my life near normal again.

Please help me achieve even just a few more months of this successful weekly treatment so I can get back to doing what I love personally and professionally; helping others.
