Support Tiaki the warrior and his whanau to ease some pressure during this hard time.
Gisborne
Tiaki Te Kani age 9 was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at the age of 8 and a half on the 9th of May 2018.
He has been receiving intensive chemotherapy for the last 8 months and is currently moving towards maintenance that will continue for the next 3 years. Along with intensive medication he has received blood transfusions and steroids in between certain treatments.
Before Tiaki was diagnosed he was just a typical healthy 8 year old hanging with his mates, playing sports and loved going to school. Since his diagnosis he has been isolated from school, friends and sometimes even family.
We have both been involved in different ways with Tiaki and his whanau. Jen has been Tiaki's school teacher and has also been on her own journey with cancer. Taylor has been a support person for the whanau through studying with Tiaki's grandmother and would love to try and help the whanau out in some way.
Funds raised will go towards clothing, food and travel.
So far, Tiaki has been solely supported by his whanau in which his mother in unable to work.
