My current immigration status could put my son and I in a dramatic situation where we would be separated!
Otago
In 2016 I arrived in New Zealand, and fall in love with the land and the people!
With a working holiday visa in my pocket, I worked straight away in an unknown field as a brush hand.
It’s how I met Craig who was the manager of the construction site I was working at.
His beautiful blue eyes got my attention at first sight and after only few months of relationship I got pregnant.
We were in love and happy so of course we decided to keep our baby despite the recent character of our relationship.
At the time Craig, my english man, already had his residency so our son got his citizenship at birth.
A year passed and our relationship continued to deteriorate to the point where we decided to do co-parenting!
Since then Harper, our son, spend 3 nights with his dad and 4 nights with me.
For the love of our son, we managed to keep a stable and friendly relationship.
Now my immigration situation has always been difficult: despite my son being a citizen, this does not entitle me to a further visa.
So I have ask a lawyer to help me with preparing and submitting a request to Immigration New Zealand and the Immigration Minister for a further visa.
The lawyer is reasonably optimistic that I may be granted a visa that will allow me to stay with my son.
