Help me get to the 39th Annual International Conference on Software Engineering to present my paper. http://icse2017.gatech.edu
Canterbury
My research paper 'Gender Diversity in Software Engineering' was selected for the 39th Annual International Conference on Software Engineering in Buenos Aires, Argentina. (http://icse2017.gatech.edu)
Since I am no longer a university student, I don't qualify for academic funding. I have only been working as a software engineer for 5 months so I do not qualify for any company sponsorship to attend this conference. Considering I have spent the last 3 years as a full time university student, and the 3 before that as a stay-at-home mum, I do not yet have the funds to pursue this opportunity on my own financial means.
The majority of my trip is kindly sponsored by Hindsight Labs (http://www.hindsightlabs.com) makers of the premier recipe manager app Paprika. They believe in me and they believe diversity in tech. We need more women to both have these opportunities and have every chance to pursue them. I have spent the last 3 years supporting women in tech through mentorship, event organisation, and facilitating connections. Once I am in a more secure financial position I will also support others to pursue further opportunities for more women in technology.
Funds raised will be used to cover the conference costs for both the main conference and a workshop as well as minor travel costs while I am away from my family in New Zealand.
You did it! 4 April 2017
