Every father’s dream is to provide for their family, see their children grow and provide the best opportunities to set up their children for success. This was Garayi’s dream when he moved to New Zealand with his family 18 months ago. Garayi is the breadwinner and was providing for his family until he started feeling unwell a few months ago leading to his recent diagnosis with stomach cancer. His health has deteriorated and has had to stop working while he commences his treatment. Given Garayi’s current work visa status, he does not meet the eligibility criteria for publicly funded health care and will need to pay for some of his medical bills and at the same time continue providing for the family. This has placed the family in a difficult financial situation. Garayi’s wife is studying full time and now also caring for her husband during his treatment and looking after their young children.
Garayi is known for supporting not just his wife and children, but his father, siblings, in-laws, relatives and friends, but this time around he needs others support. Any amount or message of support will go a long way. We really appreciate your support – Thank you.

We are a community that Garayi’s family belong to. We are all originally from Zimbabwe. We have seen what they are going through and we wish to help in any way that we can to ease their burden.
Use of funds
Medical and living expenses including the children’s upkeep while their father fights this cancer. Any surplus will be donated to someone else with a similar need like a newly diagnosed cancer or be donated to Cancer Society).

On behalf of the Tapera family, Greetings to you and your families. We hope all is well with you. Thank you again for your generous support towards our needs during our time of difficulty. Your support has gone a long way, we really appreciate it. Garayi has since completed his first round of treatments and is recovering well. We hope and pray for his health to be sustained.
