Supporting Matt & Chloe financially while Matt recovers from his Brain Injury.
Auckland
Earlier this week Matt had a life threatening accident that has left him with multiple skull fractures and brain bleeds
He is currently in the acute neurosurgery ward at Auckland Hospital, and is likely to be here for weeks, and then then transferred to a brain injury rehabilitation centre for possible months of rehabilitation.
Matt and Chloe have had an incredibly hard time with the loss of their tourism business due to COVID and so this will be a massive financial hit for their family.
They have had to relocate to Auckland with their 15month old baby, and they are unsure how long this will be for.
If you can spare anything towards making their time here a little easier and topping up what ACC may contribute, it would be very appreciated.
We will do our best to give as many progress updates as possible.
I am Chloe’s sister, and Matt’s sister in Law.
The funds will be used by Chloe and Matt to help their relocation to Auckland, and pay bills / food.
A huge Thank You!!! 18 August 2021
We would like to thank every single person that has donated to this page.
We are completely blown away with the kindness and generosity from everyone.
When Amelia suggested starting this for us, Matt was in such a critical condition that it’s only now we are realising just how far this page went.
Your contributions have removed an enormous pressure for us for while Matt is unable to work. Matt not being able to work/drive at this stage essentially means our business can’t operate.
ACC will only base our funding on last years earnings, and we all know that was very average for tourism. So all your generosity has been a life saver for us. We can’t thank you enough!
We will be making a donation from this to the Westpac rescue helicopter, who flew Matt from the Bay of Islands to Auckland hospital. What an amazing service that is!
Matt still has double vision. He has another eye scan in Greenlane next week to see if the brain swelling is still putting pressure on behind his eyes and causing the blurry vision.
He also has a follow up CT scan early September to ensure that the fractures are healing properly and that there hasn’t been any further bleeds. This will be eliminating the risk of a potential stroke.
Matt has his rehab programs starting next week.
Belle still has no idea what happened, she just thought she had a cool holiday in Auckland with her Aunties and Nana. Thank goodness 🙏
We hope everyone takes care with these lockdowns.
We can’t thank you all enough, this has been truely a blessing.
We love you all. We hope to see you all soon, and Matt will be looking forward to having a coffee with all those living close to us very soon!
So much love and appreciation
Matt, Chloe & Belle
