Wanting to improve my quality of life with freestyle libre to manage my type 1 diabetes.
Wellington
Hi I am a 21 yr old type 1 diabetic and have been living with it since I was 14.
Though I try hard to manage it whilst living my life it has always been hard to test and keep on top of my levels.
And now I have started study it has only gotten harder and stress has made it very hard to keep in check.
I have heard about a testing system called freestyle libre which is now avaliable in new zealand. It takes away the hassle and pain of pricking fingers and testing awkwardly in public which I find really difficult.
It would allow me to manage my levels much closer and hopefully improve my quality of life.
I am hoping that it becomes funded but until then it is too expensive to keep up payments for it. At the moment it costs 100 at the start then 90 every 2 weeks for the sensor that fits on your arm. Which you must continue to pay every 2 weeks till you decide you either can't pay anymore or don't want to use it.
I am hoping that the more people try it out the more likely it is to be funded.
Thank you for reading
With money raised I will invest in a freestyle libre glucose testing device for my type 1 diabetes.
Any money left over I will donate to the SPCA .
I have got the libre now!! 8 June 2018
Thanks to everyone I now have the libre and it is amazing.
Thankyou so much for your help
