To ensure our children have ready access to Learn to Swim and Learn to Survive lessons and our community have a swimming pool that is local.
Hawke's Bay
In December 2016 the Taradale Community Pool located at Taradale Primary School was closed due to the roof structure no longer meeting the building code compliance levels. The community has rallied to set up a Charitable Trust, found a construction solution and developed a business case for Ministry of Education approval (which has been received) and we are now raising the funds to get the project underway.
The fundamental driver behind reopening the pool is to ensure the local children from the Taradale, Greenmeadows and Tamatea suburbs have ready access to Learn to Swim and Learn to Survive. Beyond this there is the small but well supported Greendale Swimming Club who have thrived based in this pool, community users for rehab, fitness swimming and other aquatic activities.
Established to present the business case for reopening the Taradale Community Pool and then manage the asset after reopening.
Funds raised will be directed into the Taradale Community Pool reopening project and long term asset management.
