Last year while preparing to compete in the NZ master squash nationals a group of us received a message from Tanya saying that she wouldn't be attending due to health problems. She had just been diagnosed with some unknown cancer. Getting this news was a shock to all of us who know her.

She started up a facebook group to keep us all informed on her diagnosis, treatments and family activities. To date she has had to undergo numerous sessions of chemo etc to battle the disease. It was a hard read most of the time but the posts always had a positive spin on them. Live in the moment, Say I love you to the people close to you, Laugh don't cry, Stay positive.

I have wanted to do more than just put Like emojis, happy emojis and sad emojis on her posts as they seemed not to be enough. I have wanted to do something more tangible to help her and her family, as have a lot of other people who know Tanya.

So I have entered the 2019 Taupo Ironman and my plan is to raise funds so that people who know Tanya and G can help them along their way in their battle.
