TerraNova Homes & Care is raising money for Hospice New Zealand through a cultural event
Auckland
TerraNova Homes & Care is embarking on our first annual fundraising and cultural event.
Forty of our staff will brave the Tongariro crossing in November this year, walking 19.4 km to raise money for Hospices in the North Island.
Every person attending this trip will be required to raise a minimum of $200. We are seeking additional donations via this fundraising page to maximize the size of our donation to Hospice.
All of the funds raised will be split equally between five local Hospices in West Auckland, Central Auckland, Hastings, Taupo, and Lower Hutt.
As we are a healthcare organization, we will also use this event to immerse ourselves in Maori culture to further learn about diversity and cultural appropriateness in healthcare. Everyone attending the trip will stay at the Otukou marae, hosted by the Ngati Tuwharetoa iwi for two nights, observing all custom and protocol.
About Hospice:
Hospice is an independent charitable organisation providing care and support for people living with life limiting and terminal conditions. The goal of hospice is to support people with these conditions to live every moment in whatever way is important to them, their family, and whanau.
The Hospice is free to use for those who need it, and requires over $99m per year to operate, with over $42m reliant on fundraising. The national Hospice was established in 1986, and oversees 29 local Hospices serving 15,000+ New Zealanders every year.
