Northland

Project Outline:

We have planted every year since 2013, nearly 3000 Pingao and Spinafex, on the dune lands, also 800mrs of corridor fencing along the inter tidal waterways from the large water catchment area on this property, included are 1000 riparian plants, 500 of these plants were donated, 500 bought from Alter Natives Nursery. 400 Pohutukawa donated 2013-2015 by Project Crimson have been planted, although, summarizing the overall progress of the three projects some did not survive due to resources and minor vandalism, however we are very positive about future projects and past accomplished projects.

We hope to become more sustainable and continue this work for many years to come re introducing Pingao, spinifex, and kowhai and Pohutukawa to this coastline and these parcels of land.

Currently we have approximately 400 pingao and 1200 kowhai seedlings from our own resources.

Utilizing all the resources we have built up over the last 5 years, ie kowhai, pingao and spinifex seeds, become more sustainable and to strive toward our goal of an eco-sourced native plant species nursery on this whenua.

Use of funds

Our main priority is maintaining the restoration projects and sustainability while creating a Tewhanauwhero Hapu based, cultural and environment awareness community project.
