Help us help these beautiful animals.
Nelson / Tasman
Hi there!
My name is Lexi, I am fifteen years old and I am the founder of The Little Animal Rescue in Nelson, New Zealand. I have been rescuing, rehabilitating animals since I was young, but we officially opened our door to animals in need in February 2018. Since then, we have rescued, rehabilitated and re-homed hundreds of hens (as of November 2019, we have rescued 620 hens) multiple rabbits, pigs, sheep, wildlife (hedge hogs and birds, such as pukekos and starlings), small mammals and a half-blind horse.
So far, all of the animals' needs have come out of my own pocket - I hold a part-time job at a restaurant. Between caring for these animals, working, and studying full-time, I am pretty busy!
Each and every one of the animals that pass through we aim to have desexed, vaccinated and of course any past ailments cured.
Caring for so many animals alone, and earning money to care for them can be quite a lot of pressure - this page is to take some of this pressure away and to allow other people to help these beautiful beings too.
We currently have quite the menagerie, including: five rabbits, a deaf pig, two sheep (one blind sheep), four guinea pigs, three budgies, multiple rescue chickens and a half-blind horse - this number changes regularly as animals come and go.
This money will go towards desexing, medical care, new enclosures, environmental enrichment and day-to-day/general care of the rescued animals.
