The New Zealand Remembrance Army Appeal

$6,815 donated
Given by 124 generous donors in over a year

It takes just $5 to ensure that two war graves are cleaned and maintained. By donating you are helping preserve their memory for the future.

Nationwide

The New Zealand Remembrance Army is a charitable trust set up to foster volunteer groups across New Zealand. Our aim is to restore the headstones and family memorials of our service men and women to a high national standard.

Thanks to product sponsorship from Bio-Shield, Resene Paints and Topflite, all restoration work is provided freely and volunteers carry out the work within their local communities. We also work in conjunction with the Returned Services Association NZ, veterans, and other community groups.

By donating to the New Zealand Remembrance Army you will be enabling us to continue our work

to respectfully preserve their memory and sacrifice for future Kiwis to pay their respects.

The New Zealand Remembrance Army has one vision, to see all service headstones and family memorials cared for, wherever they may lie. In its first few years, our army of volunteers is already transforming cemetery sites all over New Zealand.

There are over 350,000 estimated service graves in New Zealand. Many of these sit uncared for in public cemeteries. We have completed an estimated 12,000 service headstones and family memorials through the generous time and effort provided by over 3,500 volunteers across New Zealand.

Local Councils and Veteran Affairs have no mandate to restore any unmaintained graves and often families are no longer able to look after these final resting places themselves.

When you walk past these graves it becomes clear that some of these men and women have been forgotten. The New Zealand Remembrance Army is committed to fixing this problem. - Lest We Forget.

About us

The New Zealand Remembrance Army is a charitable trust set up to foster volunteer groups across New Zealand to restore service headstones and memorials. All restoration is done freely and volunteers carry out the work in their local communities.

Use of funds

We use donations in a variety of ways. In special cases we use funds for a complete replacement of a family memorial that cannot be saved. Other uses include supporting our volunteers to travel and postage and packaging of restoration supplies around NZ.
