A programme set up to provide Kiwi men with the space and opportunity, through fly fishing and the outdoors, to disconnect to reconnect.
Nelson / Tasman
The Reel Effect is a programme set up to provide Kiwi men with the space and environment to step away from the stresses and pressures of life, and the opportunity to relax, recharge and reconnect.
We combined the outdoors with the sport of freshwater fly fishing; an art that requires focus, presence and patience. It has this powerful capability of completely disconnecting you from your work, your office, or your cell phone.
On our missions, our aim is to provide our men with the opportunity to step away from the busyness of our lives, and into an environment where they can relax, recharge and reconnect.
Be it on a river with a rod in hand, setting up camp or sharing a story around a campfire, you will find your opportunity to disconnect.
The Reel Effect isn’t just about fishing – it is a 3-day / 2-night adventure retreat, targeting men of working age with symptoms of depression, anxiety or stress.
It is very simply, a means to connect with Kiwi men, and get them into the outdoors and understand the positive effect this can have on our health and well-being.
The funds raise go directly to covering costs to support those on our programs.
With your help, we hope to be able to make a difference for kiwi men throughout New Zealand.
