The Whittaker Family
The Whittaker family are a family of 5. 3 girls under the age of 6. In 2015 26 year old Tui was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer which is usually treatable and has a high success rate. Unfortunately Tuis wasn't contained in his thyroid and it travelled into the surrounding cells in his neck. Tui had just started his own business for his family and had medical and life insurance and thought he was well covered for cancer however the company said thyroid cancer was not covered therefore they wouldn't help or pay for any treatment or loss of income and having just started his own business he had no leave for times when he had to have radiation.
His 3 girls are Taya who is 5 and has Down's syndrome, Stevie who is 3 and Vouge who is 3 months old. Their mother works extremely hard to make sure Taya has the best life possible. When Taya was born with Down syndrome she was born with 3 holes in her heart and needed open heart surgery to close them. Being their first child it was obviously very traumatic to go through. We have watched with awe both Tui and Tamara go from strength to strength in providing a wonderful and loving home for Taya and her sisters.
This has rocked their family. Tammy is a full time mum who goes the extra length while holding it together for her children.
This page is for Tuis third round of radiation because the second round didn't kill the remaining cells. Therefore the third dose has to be massive to try and kill the remaining cells before they spread. The money raised will allow him to have the time off he needs before the radiation as he has to stop his thyroid medication which makes him feel sick therefore not being able to work. It will also help during his time at the hospital and then after.
This is a very private family who are battling on their own and we have decided to set up a page for them because we feel they are more than deserving of the help. They are a young, hardworking, clean living and wonderful family who deserve a break at this hard time.
We are grateful for anything that will help them over this turbulent time. Thank you so much in advance.
I am a family friend.
