Nick is fighting severe pneumonia in ICU. Help support Melissa and Louie while he begins his long recovery

On 2 July 2026, Nick & his family’s lives changed in an instant.

It started as what seemed to be the flu quickly developed into severe pneumonia after multiple visits to GP’s that went undiagnosed, leaving Nick critically ill in ICU. He is currently on a ventilator in an induced coma while receiving the intensive care he needs.

While Nick is in the best possible hands, this is only the beginning of what will be a long road to recovery.

His wife Melissa is balancing long days by Nick’s bedside while managing their beautiful four-year-old son, Louie.

Many friends and family have asked how they can help. This Givealittle page has been created to ease some of the financial pressure while Nick is unable to work, allowing Melissa to focus on being with Nick and caring for Louie.

Melissa is one of my closest friends, Watching someone you care about face such heartbreak has been incredibly difficult. Like so many others, I wanted to do something that could genuinely help.

This page has been created to help ease the financial burden of living costs so Melissa can focus on what matters most: supporting Nick through his recovery and caring for Louie.

We wanted to share some really positive news.

Over the past few days, Nick has made incredible progress. He has now been transferred out of ICU and onto the ward, which feels like such a huge milestone after the past week.

While we’re so relieved with how far he’s come, we know his recovery is still only just beginning and there is a long road ahead before he’s back to full health.

We continue to be completely overwhelmed by the love, kindness and generosity we’ve received. Every donation, message and share has reminded us that we’re not facing this journey alone, and for that we are so incredibly grateful.
