In July of 2020 cheyella & Tristan's eldest son was diagnosed with water around the heart. In August of 2020 Tristan's mother was diagnosed with cancer. November of 2020 for a 3rd time Tristan himself became very unwell after sleepless nights an numerous drs appointments Tristan himself was diagnosed with a brain tumor.
Kia-ora my name is Tasha I am Tristan an cheyellas cousin. Most of the immediate whanau know aunt Ruth was diagnosed with cancer & due to better medical care and to be closer to whangarei hospital she relocated to live with Tristan & chey during this time Tristan has been diagnosed with:
Glioblastoma multi form brain tumor it is the highest grade glioma (grade4) tumor and is the most malignant form of astrocytomas. These tumors originate in the brain maximum life expectancy is one year max 5 months minimum.
This has meant for them giving up jobs an losing jobs to hold there family together. My cousins are so beautiful and never in a life time deserved any of this. My cousin is caring for her husband who was full time employed an her mother in law an her children an this has lead to her handing in her own resignation. My cousin would never admit they need help because they are so hard working and proud she would never ask for help. I wish to make there christmas a little better an two financially take the strain over the next few months an the financial burden not a worry. While there world crumbles around her. Funds will be used to financially support chey, Tris an the kids household bills, kai, Christmas. Hospital trips any urgent medical care Tris may need.
Tristens treatment 4 March 2021
Kia ora whanau cheyella matthews here wife of tristen Matthews, so tristen is nearly finish 5weeks of treatment with 1week and 2days to go. He is doing pretty well so far as we head into his 6th week of radiation, tired but good with in himself, we are very eager to get home to our children after all of this, yet to move on to the next step of our journey (chemo) thank you everyone for your unconditional support and love it has been hard guys but we will continue to fight through this, miracles happen everyday thank yous all again from the bottom of our hearts
