Tram Trailer 21 needs your help to Restore it to operational condition.

$4 of $90,000 goal
Given by 3 generous donors in 2 years

Tram 21 is essential to our operational fleet. Our volunteers have worked hard to restore her. Additional funding will see Tram21 completed.

Auckland

Tram Trailer 21 (Tram 21) requires full restoration so that it can join MOTAT’s operational fleet and be attached to Steam Tram 100.

A fully restored Tram 21 will finally bring Steam Tram 100 to its full potential. When attached to Tram 100, Tram 21 will be able to carry passengers which will enable the museum to meet the demand generated by increase visitor numbers and continuous improvement of the tram experience.

On being retired from service in the 1940's, the trailer was stripped of mechanical equipment and became a garden shed in the Turakina Valley, Wanganui District. (Now Whanganui). It was rescued by Ron Alexander, Graeme Bennett and Alan Lang and presented to MOTAT for preservation on 22nd April 1967. Work started on Tram 21 by a Government Works Scheme in 1980 but stopped after disassembly. Restoration was resumed by passionate tramways volunteers in 2010 with your help we hope to have this project completed by June 2021.

We need $140,000 to complete this project we have received $50,000 from a Philanthropic Trust, with your support we can complete this project.
