To be the woman I was born to be... healthy, fit .
Southland
After being super morbidly obese most of my life, I was given the chance for a gastric bypass. To make this process possible I had to loose weight.
The story of my life... but 1 I now needed and was serious about claiming.
I didn't sit all day and eat which is the image people think about FAT people.
I missed meals, starved and then ate late at night and went to bed. It never crossed my mind that eating small regular meals would help me drop pounds.
I had a mind set Don't eat can't put weight on.
My BMI was 78, I suffer from Arterial fribulation irregular heart rythem and blockage in my heart.
With the help of my hospital dietian and a modified diet... no carbs, No sugar, low fats my journey begun. My new best friend was Opti fast and this with 6 tiny meals a day I begun.
A lot of determination, discipline and full on exercise, I went over and above the weight loss I was required to drop.
12mths later after dropping an enormous amount of weight I was ready for my operation.
Weight loss surgery was not the easy way out, it has been the life saving procedure I've needed to help me live a longer life, be a healthier woman, and to be here for my family.
As I continue to lose the last of my weight I am left with massive amounts of loose skin.
In New Zealand we are only offered the Weight loss surgery if you qualify or pay for it yourself.
Access skin is not removed.
I have the opportunity to have skin removal but it's in Thailand.
As we live on an invalids benefit this will never be possible for me.
Cover my travel and skin removal operation.
Any money left over I'd like it to be put into a fund to help others with skin removal.
