    Just over 3,000 trees got planted by the due date at the end of September 2022, with donations continuing to come in. Thank you for your assistance ensuring this happened. Here is a closeup of some of the seedlings with their weedmats and cages on the last day of planting. Now the volunteers are busy releasing plantings from previous years to ensure maximum survival rate.

    Sadly, we did not quite make the full total needed to buy all 3,000 trees, but thank you to all you wonderful people who donated and allowed us to meet our original target so quickly and then go part of the way to meet the second target. Your trees are going in now. Check Save The Otago Peninsula's Facebook page if you know of someone who missed the deadline but would like to support the planting.

    Unfortunately a hoped for grant application to a grant organisation has been unsuccessful because they were over subscribed, so STOP is increasing the amount we need to raise, but not the timeframe, because all the trees need to be purchased and in the ground by the end of Sptember
