Give a little to help re-generate the flora of the Port Hills after the 2017 Fires. It is such a amazing place and such a tragic loss.

Waikato

The environmental loss of the amazing bush, tussock, and trees in the Port HIlls is so sad, this is a way to take positive action for a good cause. The hours, resources, and people that will be needed to support the regrowth of the Port Hills is immense, and will take a long time. So lets be generous in our donations so that this beautiful area can be restored so that people can work and play here again in the future. A tree costs about $5 + someones time + spades from rough calculations thats millions of dollars of trees that are needed to support this cause.

Rosalind Potter's involvement (page creator)

I am involved becauseI am deeply saddened by the negative environmental impact of the 2017 Fires in the Port HIlls in Christchurch NZ.

I know many of you that feel that same way, this is a way to focus on something we can do to help and support those people effected and the environment.

I lived in Chch for about 10 years and have spent so much time working and playing in the Port Hills. When I arrive into Chch the Port Hills is the sight that makes you feel like your home. I love the different elements and opportunities that can be found here, the native birds, the bush, the tussock, the view of Chch and Lyttelton Harbor, the rock climbing, the mountain biking, the running and walking trails, the view of the southern alps and the NW arch. I was in Chch during the 2011 Earthquake and know the people and city are rising up to make it a amazing city and we are all sad to see this happening to a place and people who need the Port Hills to heal and move on. I am a full time mum with a small business called Imagine Box, Heuristic & Educational play boxes for 0 -5 yr olds. https://www.imaginebox.co.nz. This is my way to give back to a place that has given so much to me.

Use of funds

Currently The Summit Road Society is the only confirmed recipient of the funds.

However there are many groups that will be collaborating in the restoration of the Port Hills, groups such as Te Ara Kakariki, Trees for Canterbury, Christchurch City Council, DoC, Private land owners.

The intention of this givealittle page is to fund all of these groups when and as needed.

So the more that is raised the more effective and widespread the restoration activities will be.
