We want to raise sufficient funds along with Joan and family contributions to completely make her Bathroom user friendly and safe.
Hawke's Bay
Joan is not one to sit around and is constantly involved in helping in a variety of activities and in raising money for others through her baking.
After several approaches to the authorities we have decided to reach out to her friends and family for support to raise sufficient funds to upgrade her bathroom to make it safe for her to shower in every day. Because Joan appears to be so independent the authorities will not fund and have not looked at the fact that a fall could/would cost them a lot more than a bathroom upgrade
Joan owns her own unit, however it was built in the 1970's and the bathroom is totally not suitable for a 74 year old woman who is disabled to be hopping around on one leg in.
The Superannuation she receives does not allow for major repairs, maintenance.
You may wish to donate to a specific part of the project. A new shower, new toilet, vanity, labour cost, a hand rail, heater, heated towel rail, new lighting, and extractor fan etc etc. Every $ will help Joan to be safer.
I'm trying to assist my sister Joan Parker to up grade her bathroom to make it safer for her to use in that she is an amuputee with a 1970's bathroom which is very dangerous for her to hop around in.
The local DHB has refused funding for this project.
Bathroom upgrade for Disabled person
If excess funds available from this we will use it to make her kitchen more user friendly.
Joans Bathroom is Finished 15 August 2020
A huge thank you to all who gave to Joan's Bathroom Upgrade.
Without your help this would not have happened and she is so happy and wishes to relay thanks to you all. many that gave Joan doesn't know but she appreciates ever dollar give.
Yes it cost more that the $12k given but with family and Joan's personal contributions and the generosity of the builders, plumber and electrician we can pay all the bills.
