Purchase a new school & community van that will help decrease isolation and improve equity within our school and community.

Bay of Plenty

As a school we are continuing our mission to reach further into our community and invite them into our place, this project is another way that we can increase equity within our school and provide a service to our community.

We have already raised $23,696 towards our goal. With your support we will be able to provide a safe means of transport to ensure we can continue to have our students present at numerous school and community events, regardless of our isolation from our community.

We will be able to develop a sense of community, compassion and connection by reducing barriers of access, increasing the opportunities for relationship building, networking and socialisation.

Our community van will ensure that whanau, children, young and older people are not disconnected due to activities and living arrangements. It will help to bridge the divide between changes to family patterns, breakdown of traditional community structures.

Intergenerational activity in terms of transport as a means to connect community groups, which can help to relieve isolation and involve people in community activities, contributing to improved general health and wellbeing. It can promote positive behaviours by sharing skills and creating safe environments for activities and exchanging life skills and experiences.

Improved access will bring people together in purposeful, mutually beneficial activities which promotes greater understanding and respect between generations and contributes to building more cohesive communities.

We believe that the investment in this project will contribute significantly to the hauora (health & wellbeing) of our community, in respect to their social (team and groups), emotional (connection with others), physical (sports, being out there and active, outdoor activities), and spiritual (being in nature, the beach, landmarks of significance) wellbeing.
