Walk 4 Life - there and back

On the 18th of November 2018, I began to hike the 3000km Te Araroa Trail, from Cape Reinga at the top of the North Island, towards Bluff at the bottom of the South Island, to raise awareness for mental health and depression, whilst supporting my friends at CanTeen.

It was my first time hiking.

I managed to complete 2492km before winter made it unsafe/impossible to continue. I had to pause my adventure after spending a week waist deep in snow. The forecast for the following week was snow, snow and more snow.

My original plan was to complete the 3000km journey in one go, stopping only for rest days, so then when I could not do that, I decided I would start the last 508km in late January 2020, when the weather had improved.

But, after some thought I have since decided I will not only complete the last 508kms, but I will then turn around and attempt to do the entire trail again, backwards. There and back again. A total of 6000km.

I do not like asking people for help but the first part cost me well over $10,000. I was asked to set this page up to allow those who want to help me financially the opportunity to do so.

I will continue to raise awareness for mental health and depression as I walk, using money donated to complete my adventure. All extra money received will go directly to CanTeen.
