THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR AMAZING SUPPORT
WHY IS SHANE DOING THIS?
Shane Kidby is driven by his passion to help others, and by doing so, helping himself. Cystic fibrosis and mental health are close to his heart. He lost his younger brother to cystic fibrosis as a child. Shane is all too familiar with the mental health battles experienced as a consequence of ‘life’. This adventure is part of his grander plan to live his life with purpose and help others find theirs.
While Shane is funding most of this adventure himself, he needs your help to purchase the last of the equipment and items needed to make it happen.
WHO?
Shane is an easy going, genuine, adventure loving family guy who has a passion for helping people. Born in Singapore, raised in New Zealand and, after travelling the world with his whanau (family) and living in both northern India and Australia for a while, he currently resides in Taranaki.
Favourite moments in his life include being a semi professional football player in the United Kingdom, coaching the Tibetan Women’s National football team and raising two beautiful daughters.
Although Shane went through major surgery for a hip replacement a few years ago, he hasn’t let this dampen his hiking and outdoor pursuits. Welcome to Shane’s newest mōrearea (adventure)!
GIVE ME THE DETAILS
Shane began walking in July 2021 and is tackling the coastline in stages - one by one. Each stage alone is an epic feat. The time it will take Shane to do this, and whether or not each stage will be completed, is unknown. It is estimated that it will take more than a year - maybe 2 or 3. He plans to review his adventure at the end of each leg of the journey.

A bit of a delay to starting my hikoi again - but watch this space 26 January 2022
Kia ora,
Well I had planned to be walking in the South Island by now but I have had a bit of a delay. My GP asked that I delay my walk by a month to sort out my health a bit more. So, while it's a bit frustrating to delay, I am taking my GP's advice and making sure I am in top shape before I start walking again. At this stage I think I might get the green light to go in about mid February. Watch this space and my social media for updates.

So as I rest up, I am reflecting on why I am doing this epic adventure for cystic fibrosis and mental health. It's little brother Daniel's 46th birthday and he's not here to celebrate because Daniel had cystic fibrosis. I want cystic fibrosis families to have their loved ones here with them for many happy years - I want to be a part of that change, and that is why I am Walking With Wings. I can't thank you enough for your support. Creating that change isn't possible with out you. Thank you - and stay tuned for more updates soon.
Regards
Shane
