Manawatu / Whanganui
On Saturday the 20th of June, following a month's rainfall within a 24 hour period (approximately 140mm), the Whanganui River flooded at over 15 meters above non flood levels, the worst flooding on record.
Wanganui declared a state of emergency and the four Wanganui rowing clubs along with the Wanganui Rowing Association were severely affected.
An additional Wanganui Rowing Association member club, Clifton Rowing Club in Taranaki was also inundated when the Waitara River flooded.
What We Need:
All of the rowing clubs sustained damage, and while most of the equipment and buildings are insured, the excess required by their Insurers has been high due to the frequency of flooding in the past few years, and some damaged items are not covered at all.
This page has been set up to assist the Clubs and the Association with their Insurance Excess and items not covered by insurance that will need replacement or repair.
Please help with as much or as little as you can give, to assist rowing get back on it's feet in Whanganui.
Thanks very much from the Wanganui Rowing Association.
