On behalf of Kate Moetaua, of Drama Queenstown and Wakatipu High School, we are asking for your help.
Otago
Kate and Teaukura Moetaua have touched so many lives in the Queenstown community over the past 20 years through their passion for the Arts (Drama, Musicals and Photography), Sport (Rugby League, Netball and anything their girls play) and through Kate's role as a Drama teacher and Dean at Wakatipu High School.
Kate ( née Glover ) was diagnosed with Melanoma late in 2013 and after successful surgery has been free from cancer for 3 years. However, the melanoma has now returned and has spread to various parts of her body which now requires a different kind of treatment.
Kate is currently in Dunedin Hospital awaiting treatment while her husband and 3 daughters ( age 7,10 and 14 ) are in Queenstown. The family’s movements over the coming weeks and when Kate will be home remain uncertain at this time.
The family believe and have been advised that the best treatment is a very successful melanoma drug that is unfunded and comes at a huge monthly cost. At this time we don't know how many months Kate will need this treatment.
Asking for money isn't an easy thing to do and so many want to help to take the pressure off Kate and T at this horribly stressful time.
I know how strongly the community appreciate everything Kate has done for many many children and young people in our community over the last 10 years and feel confident that our community will get behind them to help.
We have set up a Give A Little page for Kate in the hope that her friends, family and awesome community can rally together to help fund this drug for as long as she needs it and also assist the family with other living costs while Kate is unable to return to her beloved teaching job.
