Winter Pride Talent Fundraiser

Hey Everyone,

Pride Pledge provide free publicly accessible pride events in Queenstown in order to create visible, safe and inclusive events for all LGBTIA+ people in this region of the South Island during Winter Pride.

2020 is going to be a challenging year as the commercial side of Winter Pride (sponsorship and ticketing of paid events) will not be able to cross subsidise free events to the same extent as it has in the past.

In the past, Pride Pledge supporters and Winter Pride sponsors have funded free Apres Ski every evening, a Women's Mixer night, a Trans and Allies Cocktail evening, DJ's up in the Pride Zones on 4 mountains, Pride Hikes, ASB Pride in the Park, Drag Storytime in our local libraries, "Where to get Support" health guides and a local High School Visiting speaker.

This year, working within COVID-19 health guidelines, Pride Pledge are wanting to focus their free community engagement on some pop up events (an adapted version of ASB Pride in the Park), Drag Storytime in the libraries, High School Visits and making Trans and Allies Cocktails Evening free (as usual).

To do this they need your support to help the amazing Winter Pride talent crew to be present and visible in Queenstown with the equipment and gear they need to shine. Some may need support covering their professional fees (which are always really modest), some transport costs and possibly gear and costume related costs.

Winter Pride usually pay for airfares and accommodation costs so that talent can do this community work, but often, talent still have reasonable additional costs that need to be covered in order to make their good work possible. This year, airfares will be a lot more expensive than in the past, and a significant amount of pre-paid airfares for international talent has been spent and can't be recouped by the festival.

Please put some money in the kitty, as small or as big as you feel would help, and help support our Winter Pride talent to bring more free community Pride events to Queenstown during Winter Pride. In doing so you are removing barriers to pride for people living in the LGBTIA+ community in the South Island.

All contributions will be given to Pride Pledge, a social enterprise owned by South Pacific Pride Limited, and works all year around to increase visibility, safety and inclusion in our communities, including at Winter Pride.
