Creating a trust to take children with complex needs to the NAPA Centre in Sydney Australia.
Wellington
Our son, Elijah "wonderboy" North, was born with an undiagnosed genetic condition resulting in complex needs and Global Developmental Delay. He had microcephaly, which means his brain was small, horizontal nystagmus, which meant he was legally blind, a dis-coordinated swallow which meant he could not eat or drink and was tube feed. He also had seizures and on 6 October 2020, he passed away due to a horrific seizure.
While he was alive he attended the NAPA Centre in Australia which provided three week blocks of Intensive Therapy. This therapy was life changing for Elijah and helped him make huge developmental progress. In remembrance of him, we now want to raise funds and establish a Trust which will send children with compelx needs to the NAPA Centre to experience the same type of therapy as Elijah.
Expressions of interest will be called for via Elijah's facebook page. A shortlist will be made by our family and final selection will be made by the NAPA Centre who have the most knowledge on who would benefit from the therapy. Each intensive block of therapy costs approximately $15,000. The more money we raise the more families we will be able to help.
Elijah North is my son, who passed away on 6 October 2020. He had complex medical needs and is the inspiration behind the Wonderboy Trust.
Funds will be spent on three week blocks of Intensive Therapy, airfares and accommodation for the family accompanying the child.
