YEPT requires urgent funding to enable it's Correspondence Course completion.

Nationwide

YEPT manages its own nation-wide correspondence/self-study courses which guide prisoners to develop their own yoga and meditation practices. These courses have become a major focus for the Trust because, with its limited funding, it can deliver more yoga to pupils through this method of teaching. Over the years these courses have become increasingly popular and currently, there are 200+ students enrolled throughout New Zealand.

During 2019, in response to feedback from both teachers and pupils, the Trust embarked on a substantial review and rewrite of these courses to update asana, re-visit language levels, and make them more in tune with Aotearoa/New Zealand culture. We are also looking to improve the educational structure with a view to gaining formal accreditation in the near future. The new format is as follows:

Foundation Course (3 modules), Progressive Course (3 modules), Expansion Course (3 modules), Peer Instructor Course (3 modules).

To date, YEPT has been able to meet most of the re-write costs but requires urgent funding to enable its completion. In particular, the Trust requires $8,000 to enable the graphics to be incorporated into the last 6 modules.

Once this is complete then it will be submitted to an assessor to begin the accreditation process which will require another rewrite.

Please share this campaign far and wide so that we can be supported in our pursuit of sharing the load of holding those incarcerated in the intention they can rehabilitate, re join our communities, and be safe and whole.

No amount is too small and right now it is URGENTLY needed. Please. Give a little.

About us

We provide evidence-supported yoga education programmes to facilitate meaningful transformation for people in Aotearoa’s prisons. We also offer programmes to tautoko whānau and their communities.

Use of funds

These funds will be used directly on the completion of the course, graphics and minimal administration costs.
