Wellington
On the 1st April 2023 at 8am, Āhuru Mōwai Trust Chairman Paul Latham made his first walk up Rangituhi, in Porirua as he started the inaugural 'A Mountain To Climb' Challenge.
The challenge was to walk up Rangituhi (over 700 steps) each day for the month of April at 8am. If successful the total distance climbed would exceed the height of Mt Everest.
The purpose of the AMTC was to raise awareness and funds for the work that Āhuru Mōwai Trust does in supporting families with children who have extra and special needs.
Not only was the Challenge completed by Paul, over 300 people joined him on one or more days throughout the month and over $12,000 was raised.
"It was humbling to see the wider community come out in force to support the first AMTC, and the work we do in the Community for families who literally have a daily 'Mountain To Climb' raising their families with extra and special challenges" said Paul Latham.
Paul enjoyed it so much that he's doing it all over again in April 2024!
