UniCrew Volunteers is teaming up with the Dunedin Night Shelter Trust to hold the first Dunedin Sleep Out in the Octagon on the night of 24 July 2015.

The aim of the Dunedin Sleep Out is to raise awareness of the Night Shelter and homelessness in Dunedin, as well as fundraising towards the purchase of the Trust's currently rented premises.

Ownership of its premises will give the Shelter greater stability and security for future generations, as well as reducing operating costs. A total of $600,000 is required to secure the purchase, with approximately $360,000 raised to date through support from individual donors, grants and fundraising efforts from a number of community organisations.
